Philippine Instant Noodles Price Trends

Methodology

To monitor the real-time retail prices of instant noodles in the Philippines, a data pipeline was implemented to extract daily price information from major online grocery retailers such as SM Supermarket and Waltermart. The focus of this monitoring system is on instant noodle products commonly found in Filipino households, including both single-pack and multipack formats from brands such as Lucky Me!Payless and Nissin.

Because stock-keeping units (SKUs) vary in package size—ranging from 39g to multipacks of 55g × 6s—all prices are standardized to a 55-gram basis, which represents the mode pack size across all surveyed SKUs. The mode refers to the most frequently occurring value in a dataset, and in this case, 55 grams appears most often among all observed instant noodle products. This makes it a statistically representative and practical benchmark for standardization.

By normalizing all prices to this common reference size, consistent and meaningful price comparisons can be made across different brandspackaging formats, and retailers. As shown in the table below, this is how the data looks after adjustment as of October 7, 2025.

SKU avg_price (₱) avg_standard_price (₱)
Nissin Ramen Instant Noodles Creamy Seafood | 63g 14.50 12.66
Lucky Me! Instant Noodle Soup Spicy Labuyo Beef Multipack | 50g x 6s 62.00 11.37
Payless Instant Mami Beef Paborito | 55g 7.50 7.50
Mama Instant Noodles Pork Flavour Cup | 70g 41.50 32.61
Nissin Souper Meal Instant Noodles Beef Brisket | 90g 40.00 24.44

Only SKUs explicitly labeled with the word “instant” and belonging to the Instant Noodles category are included to ensure data relevance and consistency. Prices are captured and stored daily, enabling time series analysis and visualization of short-term retail price trends in the Philippine market.

It’s important to note that daily price fluctuations may occur due to SKU availability. If a specific SKU is temporarily unavailable on a given day, the system records the next closest matching SKU (based on product name and pack size). While this introduces some variability, it reflects the actual retail conditions faced by consumers at the time of access.
