Philippine Cooking Oil Price Trends
Methodology
To track the real-time cooking oil price in the Philippines, a fully automated monitoring system extracts retail prices daily from leading online grocery platforms such as SM Supermarket and Waltermart. This provides timely insights into the cost of one of the most essential household staples for Filipino families.
The analysis includes widely purchased brands such as:
- UFC Cooking Oil
- Jolly Cooking Oil
- Baguio Oil
Because cooking oil in the Philippines is sold in a wide range of package sizes — from 15 mL sachets to 5-liter bottles— prices are standardized to a 1-liter basis (PHP/L) for accurate comparison across products and retailers.
Among the available cooking oil products in the market, 1 liter is the most commonly offered package size across major brands, making it a statistically representative and practical reference point for standardization. An example of this standard packaging format—UFC Golden Fiesta Soya Oil | 1L—is shown in the image below, illustrating the typical 1-liter bottle used as the benchmark for normalization.

By converting all cooking oil prices to a 1-liter equivalent, the dataset enables consistent price comparisons across brands, packaging sizes, and retailers. The following table illustrates how the standardized retail price data appears as of October 29, 2025:
| SKU | Volume (mL) | avg_price (₱) | avg_standard_price (₱/L) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Minola Oil Plastic | 485mL | 485 | 84.50 | 174.23 |
| Simply Pure Canola Oil | 1L | 1000 | 159.00 | 159.00 |
| Simply Pure Canola Oil 1L | 2s | 2000 | 269.00 | 134.5 |
We only include products that are clearly labeled as cooking oil and sold in bottles or sachets with volume measurements like milliliters (mL) or liters (L). This helps make sure the data stays accurate and relevant to what Filipino households actually buy.
We track prices every day, so we can analyze short-term changes and see how cooking oil prices move over time. Day-to-day price differences may happen when a product goes on sale, becomes out of stock, or is replaced by another size — and we show those changes as part of real retail conditions.
